Important Information and Dates for 2019

Shepherd Youth Football season is almost here! We wanted to share some important reminders and dates for you to remember.

August 5th - 7th: Young Jays Camp from 6:00 - 8:00 - Your player must hand in their physical and medical release forms at the registration table or they will NOT be able to attend camp. Tackle players please arrive at 5:30 to get fitted for helmets.

August 5th: Parent meeting for all tackle parents @ 7:00 in the High School Auditorium. Bluejay cards will be handed out at this time.

August 12th - 14th: Tackle practice begins - conditioning only. If your player did not attend camp we will need their physical and medical release forms before they can start practice. Practices will be from 6:00 - 8:00.

August 15th: Equipment Handout and bluejay card hand in for tackle players only. In order to keep this process organized and efficient please come to the equipment barn with your player at the following times: 
8th Grade: 5:30 
7th Grade: 6:00 
6th Grade: 6:30 
5th Grade: 7:00

August 24th: Scrimmage and mandatory weight in for all tackle players. This will be held in Corunna times are still TBD.

August 26th: Flag Practice begins. Practices will be held on Monday thru Wednesday's except when games begin, the games will be held on Wednesdays. Practice times and location are still TBD.

 
2019 Registration is now OPEN!
2019 Shepherd Youth Football Registration is now OPEN! Sign up by clicking on the SEASON REGISTRATION tab. We are always looking for dedicated and hardworking coaches and volunteers at all levels, if you are interested sign up under the season registration tab.

There will be a mandatory parent meeting for TACKLE football players only on August 5th at 7:00 pm at the Shepherd High School Auditorium. Blue Jay cards will be handed out at that time. Sell 6 cards and your child plays for free.

Flag Football players sell 4 cards and play for free.

Shepherd Blue Jay Camp Registration is now OPEN! Sign up by clicking on the Bluejay Camp Registration tab. Cost is $25.00. Camp will be August 5th - 8th from 6:00 - 8:00.

Shepherd Youth Football Endowment Fund

The Shepherd Youth Football Program and its Board have put together a special opportunity for our community and football student-athletes.

An endowment fund has been created through the Mount Pleasant Community Foundation to provide scholarships for Shepherd High School graduates who participate in high school football.

Criteria for the scholarship are:

  • Student must graduate from Shepherd High School
  • Student must have participated in high school football at Shepherd High School
  • Student must have maintained a 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Student must possess a positive attitude towards Shepherd Public Schools, the Shepherd Football Program, and the Shepherd Community
  • Student shall planning to enroll at an accredited college, university, or trade school

Preferences for the scholarship will be given to athletes who participate in Shepherd Youth Football, received the Warrior/Iron Man award, had distinguished achievements in football, and demonstrate financial need.

Saturday October 21, 2017 Shepherd Youth Football presented an initial check to the community foundation, represented by Brittany Sherrill and Michelle Sponseller, for $10,000 to be put into the Shepherd Football Scholarship Fund. This donation, and others, will be invested and annual earnings will be used to award scholarships in perpetuity.

Shepherd Youth Football is proud to give back to the Shepherd Community and proud to support our student athletes and the game of football.
